Highlights from the Event

This year McKesson ideaShare took place in New Orleans and saw record attendance with nearly 2,000 pharmacies represented and more than 6,000 total attendees. In addition, more than 800 were first-time attendees and 200 vendors and manufacturer partners were represented. Attendees shared ideas and learned new skills at more than 80 exhibit floor product and service demonstrations, workshops, topical meet-ups with experts and Plaza Theater presentations.

Keynote Sessions

Opening General Session

Mark Walchirk, President, McKesson U.S. Pharmaceutical shared his insights and perspectives on the industry and future opportunities. Steve Courtman, President, Health Mart®, introduced the Pharmacy of the Year award winner Nicole Winnen of Mac Prescription Shop Health Mart, and Chris Dimos, SVP Marketing, Strategy and Business Development walked through highlights of the exhibit floor and special events. Michael Abrashoff, former commander if the Navy's USS Benfold and author of “It's Your Ship” inspired attendees with his timeless leadership message.

Health Mart Annual Meeting

Steve Courtman, President, Health Mart®, revealed how Health Mart® experts are partnering with independents on strategies to improve their business and be prepared for future success in a fast-changing industry. He emphasized how “performance equals profit.”

Crystal Lennartz, Health Mart Chief Pharmacist, shared how independents can succeed through better clinical and financial performance results. Watch video (2:33)

Guest speaker Mark Thompson, leadership expert and CEO and Co-Founder of Virgin Unite Mentors, shared his insights on leadership and driving innovation, sales growth and customer and employee engagement.

New Solutions

This year's McKesson ideaShare included launches of new tools and services to help independent pharmacists stay ahead of the curve.

  • Health Mart's DIR Estimator tool: Improve your performance and lower your DIRs with Health Mart's DIR Estimator, available in myHealthMart. Health Mart's step-by-step guide walks you through understanding and estimating your DIR obligation. The interactive module is easy to use and automatically pulls in your DIR payment information and leverages the DIR Estimator to calculate and display your results! The module also includes helpful information and short videos to support your efforts get in front of your DIRs.
  • Health Mart's Cost-to-Dispense Calculator: In an environment of decreasing reimbursements, it is becoming even more important to measure and control expenses to ensure profitability. Health Mart's Cost-of-Dispensing Estimator, available in myHealthMart, will help you to quickly and easily calculate your pharmacy's cost to dispense a prescription.
  • Improvements to McKesson Connect: McKesson Connect is a pharmacy's one-stop resource for all its pharmaceutical needs and has now been taken to the next level Pharmacy customers will now experience a next generation ordering platform that delivers a more robust and easy-to-use search capability with dynamic filtering, new product opportunity suggestions to identify potential savings, and more streamlined ordering and returns to help save time.
  • Health Mart Marketing Hub: Check out what's new on the Health Mart Marketing Hub, including 1000+ items, with new items added regularly, a Digital Listings service to help you get found online, and a Reputation Management service to help you manage reviews of your pharmacy.
  • McKesson Employee Flu Vaccines at Health Marts: This flu season, Health Mart pharmacies will have the opportunity to provide flu vaccines to more than 30,000 McKesson employees at over 100 McKesson offices and distribution centers in the U.S. Eligible McKesson employees and their dependents will receive vouchers to be redeemed at their local Health Mart during October for a complimentary flu shot. This includes 8,000+ McKesson employees who work remotely around the country.

    This partnership provides opportunities for Health Mart pharmacies to build long-term patient relationships with McKesson employees or dependents, and a successful program could lead to even more opportunities in the future.
  • New Collaborative Practice Agreement: Collaborative Practice Agreement (CPA) services templates, available on Bula, help facilitate building deeper relationships with providers. Health Mart members now benefit from CPA services templates for all 50 states. These templates help to enable additional service delivery for independent pharmacies and/or in provider offices, as well as facilitating payment terms for collaborative drug therapy management services.
  • New AccessHealth portal: AccessHealth® users can now view their profitability reports, find and use the AccessHealth DIR Estimator tool, as well as other related tasks (e.g. Generics reports) on the newly developed portal exclusive to AccessHealth pharmacies.
  • Roadmap Planning: Take your first step and create a 12-month plan to hold yourself accountable to achieve results for your pharmacy's performance and profits. This new tool saves time and offers suggestions by pre-populating strategies and tactics that you can edit. Look for future enhancements this fall via myHealthMart.com.
