McKesson Specialty Health technology solutions to be featured in the 2015 ASCO Interoperability Demonstration

May 26, 2015

The Woodlands, Texas (May 26, 2015) — Two McKesson Specialty Health oncology-specific technology solutions have met the criteria to participate in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Interoperability Demonstration during the 2015 ASCO Annual Meeting in Chicago. iKnowMedSM Generation 2, an electronic health record (EHR) developed in collaboration with oncologists in The US Oncology Network, and Clear Value PlusSM, a quality support tool for oncologists that highlights evidence-based treatment options based on the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology® (NCCN Guidelines®) and Value Pathways powered by NCCN™, will be showcased during the conference.

“McKesson Specialty Health is committed to providing oncologists with innovative tools that allow integrated cancer care,” said Marcus Neubauer, medical director of Oncology Services for McKesson Specialty Health. “Our technology team understands the important role interoperability plays in the delivery of high-quality care. iKnowMed Generation 2 and Clear Value Plus were developed to be compatible with different systems, allowing physicians convenient access to these innovative tools no matter their current technology software.”

McKesson Specialty Health’s technology solutions work together and with other systems to help physicians improve their practice performance. In the Interoperability Demonstration, the McKesson Specialty Health technology team will showcase the value of clinical data sharing amongst different technologies and systems. In the demonstrations, the McKesson Specialty Health team will utilize iKnowMed Generation 2 and Clear Value Plus to track the progress of a fictional colon cancer patient from diagnosis to treatment. This demo will reflect how clinical data sharing along a patient’s medical journey can help with care coordination, delivery and outcomes.

“McKesson Specialty Health is pioneering interoperability,” said Dan Lodder, vice president and general manager of Technology Solutions for McKesson Specialty Health. “Although we have several technology products that can stand on their own, they are designed to integrate – with each other and other solutions – for quality, value and performance. Together, our suite of offerings is an all encompassing solution for physicians, which is customizable, user-friendly, and clinically up-to-date.”

iKnowMed Generation 2 and Clear Value Plus will be featured at the ASCO Interoperability Demonstration on Monday, June 1, beginning at 9 AM CDT in room S405 of McCormick Place in Chicago. Demonstrations will be at 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. Additionally, the McKesson Specialty Health technology team will be providing in person consultations for those who can visit their booth at ASCO (#8135), and a virtual meeting for those who cannot attend. The technologies that will be showcased at the McKesson booth are iKnowMed Generation 2, Clear Value Plus, the Clear Value Plus – Guideline Explorer iPad app, In Office Dispensing, and Lynx Mobile.
