McKesson Specialty Health Approved as Qualified Clinical Data Registry by CMS

Comprehensive, end-to-end solution streamlines data submission and optimizes MIPS participation for community-based practices

The Woodlands, Texas (June 1, 2017) – McKesson Specialty Health has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to participate in the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) 2017 program year as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). With this designation, McKesson can collect and report clinical data through its oncology electronic health record (EHR), iKnowMed℠, for both MIPS and custom non-MIPS quality measures to foster quality and cost of care improvements. iKnowMed users will be able to submit data directly to CMS without engaging a separate registry vendor.

“As value-based care continues to evolve, quality reporting requirements have increased the burden on physicians and administrators in the community practices that we serve,” said Erin Crum, director of Quality Reporting, McKesson Specialty Health. “As a QCDR, we will be able to streamline MIPS quality measure reporting based on data captured in iKnowMed. This should significantly ease the administrative burden on our users, eliminate the need to engage a third-party registry and help clinicians maximize their MIPS scores.”

With McKesson as a QCDR, iKnowMed users will have access to:

  • A comprehensive end-to-end solution for data capture through standard workflow, performance monitoring and direct data submission to CMS
  • Support for 16 MIPS quality measures in 2017
  • Eventual physician-driven custom quality measures specific to oncology developed in conjunction with clinicians in The US Oncology Network and other iKnowMed users
  • Ongoing feedback and continuous data monitoring via Practice Insights℠, McKesson Specialty Health’s reporting and analytics tool designed to help streamline and improve patient care
  • Submission of MIPS Improvement Activities

“McKesson Specialty Health is committed to ensuring practices can successfully perform in value-based care programs,” said Marcus Neubauer, MD, vice president and medical director, Payer and Clinical Services, McKesson Specialty Health. “As a company with a deep understanding of MIPS legislation and other value-based initiatives, we are uniquely positioned to help community-based practices remain independent and thrive in this ever-evolving environment.”
