Jeffrey Kao is chief information officer and senior vice president, Information and Technology Services, for McKesson Specialty Health and The US Oncology Network. He is responsible for overseeing all support technologies that enable the delivery of care by The US Oncology Network, managing the entire McKesson Specialty Health technology product portfolio, overseeing the internal technology operations and infrastructure for McKesson Specialty Health, and delivering advanced technology to support specific business segments including Payers, Pharma and Clinical Research.Previously, Jeff served as senior vice president and chief information officer for Coventry Health Care, Inc., a diversified national insurer that was recently acquired by Aetna. In this role, he led all aspects of IT including application development, infrastructure, data analytics, medical management, information risk management and corporate systems. At Coventry, Jeff led a team of more than 2,100 employees and 200 contractors, with two major data centers and over 200 applications.Prior to Coventry, Jeff served as president, North America Acute Care division for Hill-Rom, a leading worldwide manufacturer and provider of medical technologies and related services. As president, Jeff oversaw multiple businesses spanning patient support systems, healthcare informatics and medical equipment. He has also served as president for IDX’s Flowcast Physician software business and held several leadership roles at General Electric within their Medical Systems division.Jeff received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington, and his master’s in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. He is based in The Woodlands, Texas.
