Marc E. Owen is chairman of the Celesio Management Board. Owen leads McKesson’s European and Brazilian business, bringing broad healthcare experience and a deep of the knowledge of the European market to his position.Prior to his current role, Owen was President of McKesson Specialty Health where he was responsible for leading McKesson’s businesses delivering specialty care and services. McKesson Specialty Health supports The US Oncology Network and empowers the community patient care delivery system to advance the science, technology and quality of care. The US Oncology Network is one of the nation’s largest networks of community-based oncology physicians serving more than 850,000 cancer patients annually.Prior to his appointment as President of McKesson Specialty Health in February 2012, Owen was Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development for McKesson Corporation and a member of the Company’s Executive Committee. Under Owen’s leadership, McKesson pursued a strategy based on improving the cost and quality of healthcare. He played key roles in focusing individual business unit strategies, complemented by initiatives that cut across the company with an emphasis on growth. Owen also led McKesson’s M&A activities and led the acquisition of more than 40 companies. Owen previously served on the Boards of Nadro S.A., MedVantx, Verispan LLC and Proventys.Owen joined McKesson in 2001 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development. Previously, he was CEO of MindCrossing.Owen spent 12 years at McKinsey and Company working with clients in the healthcare and technology industries. He was elected a senior partner (director) in 1998. He was a founding partner of McKinsey’s office in Palo Alto and led the Western U.S. for McKinsey’s Business Technology Office. Consulting Magazine has recognized Owen as one of the top consultants in the area of business and technology.Owen grew up in Wales and was educated at Oxford University where he graduated with double first class honors degrees in Law. He was a member of the law faculty at Cambridge University, a member of the English Bar, and subsequently obtained his MBA from Stanford in 1987. He is married with two daughters.
