EHN Offers Best Practices graphic

Emory Healthcare Network (EHN) set out on their population health journey with the primary objectives to improve quality and reduce cost. In building their population health analytics program, EHN found that creating metrics that measure progress against accountable care goals are a significant challenge. EHN identified two analytic KPIs they would have to manage to achieve success: population health and financial risk.

EHN successfully navigated their challenges to establish a clinically integrated network (CIN) in 2011. From their journey, they identified the following best practices:

  • Gather expert advice from peer organizations
  • Start with your own employee health data
  • Recognize that value-based care management is new for everyone – including payers
  • Validate your data, and the payer data
  • Staff heavily and secure time commitment
  • Engage your physicians

EHN shared their process to develop their population health analytics program in an HFMA/ACPE webinar earlier this year.
