McKesson Supports America’s Vets

One of those firms is Veterans Imaging Products, Inc., which was established by a Vietnam veteran who was disabled while serving in the US Army. Under a multi-million dollar contract, VIP supplies McKesson with toner cartridges for photocopies and fax machines, general office products and janitorial / sanitation supplies. And McKesson has recently finalized a multi-million dollar contract with another veteran-owned firm called Trillacorpe, which produces generic pharmaceuticals.

In addition to VIP and Trillacorpe, the company contracts with many other veteran-owned businesses. To encourage even more such contracts, McKesson holds several meetings each year to help veteran-owned companies identify business opportunities and develop partnerships with McKesson. For example, during its Veteran Business Forum this past spring, McKesson hosted representatives from 36 veteran-owned product and services businesses. As part of the Forum, McKesson arranged for representatives from all 36 companies to meet one-on-one with purchasing managers at McKesson to help match the company’s needs with products and services available from their firms.

Executives from McKesson also participate in numerous national veterans meetings each year. In January, McKesson’s director of supplier diversity participated on a panel at the National Veterans Entrepreneurship Conference. And in June another McKesson executive attended the National Veterans Small Business Conference.

Also in June, a team from several of McKesson’s business units participated in the Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise Alliance’s (DVBE) annual “Keeping the Promise” Exposition. In addition, McKesson is a member and serves on the corporate advisory board of the California DVBE Alliance.

And finally, another way that McKesson supports our vets is through its pharmaceutical distribution contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. In fact, McKesson is the VA’s largest vendor, supplying pharmaceuticals to all of the VA's medical centers and outpatient clinics, as well as the VA's Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacies (CMOPs) since 2004.
