Nine Local Organizations Receive Funding For Health Projects Benefiting Youth and Families MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- The McKesson Foundation today announced it has awarded a total of $60,000 in grants to nine Twin Cities-area nonprofit organizations. Grant funds will be used to support health and wellness programs benefiting youth and families in the Twin Cities community. “McKesson strongly believes in the importance of supporting nonprofit organizations in the communities where our employees live and work. McKesson Foundation grants are presented annually to nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities and nationwide. Nonprofit organizations awarded funds from the McKesson Foundation are: - North Metro Pediatrics, PA.—to increase access to medical resources for children in need by funding nurse practitioners and expanded pediatric physician hours
- Sabathani Community Center, Lafayette—to support a free medical clinic for low-income children which will provide health information and medical and dental care
- Neighborhood Involvement Program—for purchase of medical equipment to provide care for underinsured and uninsured people of all ages
- Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery—to support a Pediatric Assessment and Medical Management Program which provides medical care and health assessments to 2,000 children annually who do not receive regular medical services
- YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis—North Community—for a startup program addressing obesity prevention/weight management training and nutritional information to 1,200 youth aged 6-14
- Fairview Health Services—to support Fairview Hospice programs not covered by Medicare or private insurance like music therapy, massage therapy, grief support, and pet therapy
- Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency—for purchase of portable cribs and home safety kits to ensure a safe sleeping environment for 100 low income infants and toddlers
- We Can Ride, Inc. – to support therapeutic horseback riding and carriage driving for children and adults living with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities
- Ronald McDonald House– to upgrade food service equipment at the Minneapolis Ronald McDonald House
