Guhan joined the McKesson Provider Technologies internship program while finishing his master’s in computer science. “I chose McKesson because of their development of critical and innovative skills, and their valuable introduction to the corporate world.” During the three-month program, Guhan implemented a re-architected prototype of our Horizon MobileCare™ Rounding application. He also scripted and helped conduct performance tests for the application’s release. Guhan was impressed by his welcoming coworkers and how well they functioned as a team despite diverse backgrounds. “An organization of McKesson’s size might have been a tough place to navigate,” he says. Instead, Guhan appreciated being mentored by other engineers on his team: “They didn’t just give me the answers—they helped me learn on my own.” Guhan also enjoys working in our customer-centric environment. “Customer issues are always our top priority,” he says. Guhan’s tips for success at McKesson include networking across multiple teams, multitasking and staying current on organizational changes. His strategy works: at the end of his internship, Guhan accepted a full-time position with McKesson. He is now a software engineer developing applications for the Mobile Alerts Portal Solutions group in Alpharetta, Georgia. |
