Patient Safety

As part of the Admissions process, a band with a unique bar code is placed on the patient’s wrist to positively identify him throughout his hospital stay. From the pharmacy to the bedside, bar-code technology helps staff members ensure that nurses administer the correct medication to him on time and in the right doses. Nurses can access the patient’s electronic medical records (EMR)  through McKesson’s mobile information system to see his complete medical history, including any allergies or other critical information.

Doubling as a medication cabinet, this mobile information system combines secure medication management and wireless access to patient care information. In addition, it saves nurses time and improves their ability to deliver safer, more efficient care at the bedside, where it’s most effective.
