NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2006--McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK), the world's leading healthcare services company, today announced that more than 300 new hospital organizations, representing nearly 500 hospitals and facilities across the United States, selected InterQual products in 2005. The InterQual(R) suite's proven track record for comprehensive, high quality clinical content and easy integration with existing workflows were the principal drivers of their licensing decisions. One hundred of the 500 hospitals will use McKesson's CareEnhance(R) Review Manager, the workflow software for InterQual clinical content. "We are very pleased with the steady growth in sales of our InterQual content to hospital customers in 2005, as it illustrates a shared commitment to promoting the highest standards for appropriateness of care," said Ricardo Guggenheim, M.D, vice president of content and design for McKesson Health Solutions. "We also saw a significant increase in customers using our software to access our criteria, demonstrating a growing trend towards integrating clinical evidence into care management workflows." More than 3,500 health plans, hospitals, academic medical centers, government agencies and care management organizations currently use McKesson's InterQual tools to support clinical decisions for individual patients across the continuum of care. The product suite's unmatched clinical strength -- including its rich research base, care facilitation features, integration of quality indicators and care management notes -- has made InterQual the world's leading evidence-based criteria solution for care managers performing utilization review and discharge planning. Among the new hospital clients to license InterQual products in 2005 include El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif., Medical University of South Carolina Medical Center in Charleston, Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York, and Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisc.
