McKesson ClaimCheck Available on TriZetto Systems
September 18, 2006

MALVERN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2006--McKesson Health Solutions, a unit of McKesson Corporation, today announced the availability of McKesson ClaimCheck(R) code auditing solutions on the TriZetto Facets claims processing system. With an interface to ClaimCheck, Facets customers can apply proven McKesson auditing solutions to their healthcare claims. McKesson is a preferred alliance partner of clinical auditing solutions for TriZetto.

The new business agreement between McKesson and TriZetto is a 'win' for insurers and joint clients. "We welcome the opportunity to deliver ClaimCheck to Facets customers," said Emad Rizk, M.D., president of McKesson Health Solutions. "Health plans now have a readily available solution to help increase claims processing flexibility and address their plans' unique medical and business rules."

McKesson and TriZetto have previous experience serving payor clients jointly through a ClaimCheck interface that is currently in production at several customers using Facets. The formal offering of McKesson solutions on TriZetto systems stems from the recent settlement of litigation brought by McKesson against TriZetto for patent infringement of McKesson software applications for healthcare claims auditing. The settlement gives health plans using the TriZetto Facets claims processing systems access to McKesson clinical auditing solutions. Using the McKesson preferred clinical auditing solutions, Facet customers gain the ability for more accurate and consistent editing and reimbursement practices while reducing their administrative costs.

"We remain firmly confident in the validity of our patent. The settlement with TriZetto allows McKesson to move forward with core business strategies and to focus on helping health plans optimize their organizations' claims operations," Rizk said. Under the terms of the agreement, TriZetto will no longer include its clinical editing functions with Facets sold to new health plans with over 100,000 members.

"Health plans will benefit from the McKesson ClaimCheck solution," said Carolyn Wukitch, senior vice president and general manager, McKesson Health Solutions. The new McKesson ClaimCheck 8.5 release helps health plans realize greater processing efficiencies, with added enhancements and more auditing options, including greater user control over modifier application, client-defined use of CCI edits with quarterly updates, and increased flexibility to reflect plan policies with ClaimCheck on-site customization.

McKesson recently announced a new, diverse set of solutions to help insurers meet performance and operational objectives. "Health plans may also consider and evaluate other McKesson solutions to help manage their complex benefit offerings," said Wukitch. "McKesson is ready to help payor clients manage their day-to-day operations, provider contracting processes, and to plan and execute their organizations' long-term strategies."

New McKesson solutions include the ClaimsXten(TM) full service claims management offering, InvestiClaim(TM) for fraud and abuse identification; Contract Symphony(TM) for managing provider contracting; newly enhanced Clear Claim Connection(TM) automated disclosure system, and a full menu of analytic and business consulting services. "Each of our new solutions represents an opportunity for health plans to improve the delivery of healthcare by streamlining process and reducing administrative waste," Wukitch said.
