McKesson Corporation's Emad Rizk, M.D. Named Among Top Leaders in Disease Management by Managed Healthcare Executive

Earlier this year, Dr. Rizk also was named one of the “50 Most Powerful Physician Executives” in the U.S. by Modern Physician magazine.

In announcing the award, the September issue of Managed Healthcare Executive cited Dr. Rizk’s “energies into creating a disease management model that moves beyond telephonic communication to an on-the-ground, more comprehensive model.” This innovative, new disease management model incorporates significant payor/provider connectivity, on-the-ground nurse support and pay for participation.

The implementation of this model has driven other recent awards and successes, including ACCESS Plus, Pennsylvania’s enhanced primary care case management program run in partnership with McKesson, being named one of 15 finalists for the 2008 Innovations in American Government Awards; and net savings of nearly $34 million in healthcare costs during the first year of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services disease management program.

In addition, Dr. Rizk is a member of the board of DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance.
