November 06, 2009

McKesson Health Solutions President Will Join Leaders from Around the Country to Discuss Healthcare Reform at Prestigious Event

Dr. Emad Rizk, president of McKesson Health Solutions, and industry leaders from around the nation will come together at the 10th annual Harvard Business School (HBS) Health Industry Alumni Conference, taking place November 5-7 at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. This year’s event, entitled Driving Healthcare Reform: Policy, Innovation and Finance, will provide a forum for discussion and debate centered on the future of healthcare reform.

Rizk will participate on a panel focused on innovations and new strategies that will be achievable under healthcare reform. Joining Rizk will be Dr. Gary Gottlieb, president of Brigham and Women's Hospital; Ben Lytle, chairman and co-founder of Univita Health, Inc; and moderator Ben Sasse, former assistant secretary of Health and Human Services. The HBS Health Industry Alumni Association has more than 500 members who influence every aspect of the healthcare industry. This exclusive event attracts the elite alumni and faculty of the Harvard Business School working in healthcare and the life sciences, as well as selected leaders in Harvard University's medical and biosciences communities.

“With all of the changes and uncertainty in the market and in the economy over the last year, it is vital for industry stakeholders to come together at events like this to join in the dialogue around the issues that affect healthcare,” said Rizk. “Regardless of the specifics of reform, we must focus on alignment within the healthcare industry and on what each of our organizations can do to improve healthcare quality, access and cost for all of our citizens.”

A world renowned healthcare industry expert, Rizk brings over 25 years of experience working with payors, physicians, hospital systems and pharmaceutical organizations, providing transformational strategies and operational execution expertise through healthcare information technology. In August 2009, Rizk was named among the Top 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare. In May 2009, for the second year in a row, Rizk was named one of the 50 Most Powerful Physician Executives in the United States by Modern Physician and one of the nation's Top 25 Leaders in Disease Management in 2008 by Managed Healthcare Executive. He serves on boards of the National Quality Review, the DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance, the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, and the International Disease Management Alliance (IDMA), as well as a number of other healthcare organizations. Rizk recently published a book entitled “The New Era of Healthcare: Practical Strategies for Providers and Payers.”
