Sept. 12, 2008—McKesson Health Solutions, with employees throughout the state of Texas including Corpus Christi, Tyler and San Antonio, has opened a free nurse advice line for Texans who are having issues with access to healthcare services as a result of Hurricane Ike. Impacted Texas residents are urged to call toll-free 1-800-757-9759 if they need health advice. “We understand the potential for devastation and that it will severely impact the healthcare system on-the-ground throughout the affected areas. We’re offering the services of our nurses during and after the hurricane to help those who are impacted,” said Emad Rizk, M.D., president, McKesson Health Solutions. McKesson registered nurses are now taking calls from impacted Texas residents to help assess health symptoms and recommend an appropriate type of healthcare service, which can include at-home self-care, a trip to the doctor’s office or emergency room. This free nurse advice line is available 24/7 during and after the storm. McKesson is donating this nurse advice service to the community. For life-threatening emergencies please call your local emergency services provider or 911. About McKesson Corporation CONTACT: |
