Innovative Solutions Optimize Health Plans Payment Initiatives and Improve Medical Cost Spend McKesson will preview two of their forthcoming solutions at the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Institute 2009. This year’s Institute focus is on practical healthcare reform, making it an optimal venue to preview these solutions which both directly impact the economics of healthcare. McKesson Total Payment™ Solution will provide a more efficient and optimized approach for clients to advance their payment management strategy while McKesson Performance Advisor™ will allow users to improve their medical cost spend with smarter decisions enabled by actionable, right-time business intelligence. By optimizing payment policies and enabling smarter, more efficient decision making throughout the claims process, Total Payment delivers essential clinical, contract and fraud intelligence to claims payment decisions. It includes modules for codifying and automating complex contract terms, flexible and robust claim auditing and proactive fraud and abuse prevention. Jim Evans, vice president of claims performance for McKesson, will present this new integrated approach to managing claims payment on June 3 in McKesson Booth #307. To address today’s rising costs and hard-to-manage medical spend, McKesson is previewing Performance Advisor: a scalable, enterprise-class business intelligence solution for health plans. This solution — for plans facing disjointed data sources and analytic systems that often house outdated data, are inflexible and reside in silos — combines McKesson’s renowned clinical, analytic and healthcare expertise with IBM’s industry leading business intelligence technology platform. Performance Advisor will more quickly and effectively optimize payor business strategies, allowing for decreased time to significant business value. Throughout the day on June 4, Dr. Tony Pelezo, medical director, McKesson Health Solutions, will be in booth #307 to answer questions and discuss current analytics challenges in the industry and how they can be solved with this new solution. “Though they meet very different organizational needs, both solutions support our vision of enabling more intelligent healthcare by connecting a health plan’s critical enterprise assets to facilitate faster, more-informed decisions,” said Carolyn Wukitch, McKesson Health Solutions senior vice president. “AHIP Institute 2009 is an excellent venue for starting a dialogue on these next generation solutions that will be key to providing the operational efficiencies needed to drive practical healthcare reform.” For more information on McKesson solutions and events at AHIP Institute 2009, including background information and multimedia, please visit http://www.mckesson.com/AHIP09news .
