NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Four health plans have partnered with McKesson Corporation in the first quarter of 2008 to use the company’s CareEnhance® Clinical Management Software (CCMS®), including California’s Care1st Health Plan, Wisconsin’s Unity Health Plans Insurance Corporation and Health Partners of Philadelphia. They join more than 65 other organizations using the market-leading care management workflow software. The newly contracted health plans, covering a combined 625,000 lives, cite CCMS’ customizable and easy-to-use tools, its ability to support NCQA standards and McKesson-provided training and support as major factors in their selection. “During the three to four years researching care management solutions, we constantly used McKesson’s products as the benchmark by which to compare other offerings,” said Robert Feldman, RN, director, medical services, Care1st Health Plan. “Though other companies offered competitive technologies, none came close to McKesson’s market experience, customer service and overwhelmingly positive client references. Partnering with McKesson is a large commitment for us, not just technologically or financially, but for our core business as well. We needed the security that came from McKesson’s national footprint and market leadership in this space.” Care1st Health Plan will implement the entire CCMS product suite as part of its new Complex Case Management Program. By helping with process and procedure standardization and the creation of a central, integrated data repository, the solution will assist in streamlining care managers’ workflow. “CCMS will not only dramatically improve current workflow, but create opportunities for new and innovative processes,” said Feldman. CCMS’ automated functionality will also assist Care1st in meeting NCQA’s standards, including QI7 Complex Case Management. The health plan is simultaneously licensing McKesson’s 24x7 Nurse Triage services to provide members with information and advice from registered nurses to assist in care decisions. “We are truly excited that four more payor organizations have chosen McKesson to help them reach their individual care management goals. Their adoption of CCMS is a testament to our exceptional technology, market experience and national reach,” said Kendra Fuller, associate vice president of care management products, McKesson Health Solutions. “We are also proud of our recent 96 percent customer satisfaction rate. Our greatest advocates are our current clients.” Composed of CareEnhance® Care Manager, CareEnhance® Care Strategies and CareEnhance® Disease Monitor modules, the CCMS suite is an integrated utilization, case and disease management workflow solution. With data integration technology at its core plus intuitive design, automated tools, and customizable features, CCMS enables healthcare payors to deliver optimal care management while maximizing their resources. The integrity of CCMS’ clinical content enables health plans to make decisions that are based on clinical evidence, align with case and disease management practices, and meet accreditation and regulatory standards.
