Care Management Solutions to Streamline Processes, Engage Constituents and Support Quality and Cost Management Initiatives Wisconsin’s Security Health Plan has licensed components of McKesson’s integrated suite of Total Coordinated Care™ solutions to centralize all of its medical management services. The HMO will implement the products ? CareEnhance ® Clinical Management Software (CCMS™), CareEnhance ® Disease Monitor and Clear Coverage™ ? and will expand its use of InterQual ® Criteria to help meet its quality and cost management goals. Security Health Plan, an 188,000-member regional HMO, wanted to centralize its various medical management services, including disease management (DM), case management (CM) and utilization management (UM), to streamline processes and member interactions while enhancing efficiency. To reach these goals, it needed to provide care managers with a single, comprehensive view of each member. Security Health Plan engaged McKesson to integrate these care programs and provide a composite, holistic member view. “We were looking for a partnership that was in line with our five-year strategic plan for quality improvement and cost management,” said Steve Youso, chief administrative officer, Security Health Plan. “McKesson’s solution will not only help us to improve the health of our members, but it also will strengthen our relationships with them and our providers. The integrated suite of McKesson products will grow with us to meet our evolving needs for flexible, agile technology.” The Total Coordinated Care suite combines McKesson’s InterQual Criteria , CCMS care management workflow software, Clear Coverage point-of-care decision support, and Disease Monitor disease identification and monitoring tool, to provide more coordinated care management. The integrated approach eliminates existing CM, UM and DM silos, driving down medical and administrative costs and improving patient care. Payors are better able to address gaps in care coordination, eliminate duplicative processes and engage members and providers. “Our customers are looking for an integrated care management solution that meets their needs now, and that they can depend on well into the future,” said Rose Higgins, vice president of care management solutions for McKesson Health Solutions. “Our differentiators include ease of integrations, connecting the key stakeholders as well as our clinical and workflow expertise stemming from years of working with our successful CCMS clients. These set us apart from other companies and ensure our ability to meet our customers’ varied needs.” The suite will provide Security Health Plan exponential value by linking data, people and processes, which is of utmost importance as the organization is located in a rural area and must engage members and providers dispersed over a large geographic region. Now, without the need to access multiple applications, care managers will see a complete picture of their members’ goals and objectives. Also, care managers’ efficiency will increase with automatic notifications and online authorizations replacing phone calls and faxes. Finally, members will benefit from consistent, streamlined interactions with care providers and will no longer be frustrated by numerous phone calls requesting similar information.
