EnterpriseRx(TM) Launches Today for Independent Pharmacies
July 07, 2008

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS), a unit of McKesson Corporation, today launched its next-generation pharmacy management system EnterpriseRx at the McKesson Pharmacy Strategies Conference in Las Vegas. EnterpriseRx is a complete pharmacy management system that facilitates control over the entire prescription filling process while simultaneously providing a solution for many common administration and management responsibilities. The Web-based systems innovative features differentiate it from any other pharmacy system on the market today, and empower pharmacies to seamlessly adjust to industry shifts, confidently deliver excellent patient care, and consistently measure business results.

EnterpriseRx, an innovative, centrally hosted pharmacy management system built from the ground up, was designed by pharmacists with real-world experience. Leveraging a modern architecture to respond quickly to industry and regulatory changes, rather than embedded legacy code, EnterpriseRx allows our customers to adapt to a dynamic marketplace. It can also serve as a platform for facilitating new or third-party technologies into the pharmacy, explained Scott Bagwell, SVP of Sales and Marketing for MPS.

With improving patient safety as a key goal, the EnterpriseRx designers wanted to enable pharmacists to consistently provide accurate and complete pharmacy care. Therefore, the EnterpriseRx pharmacy workflow is designed to allocate queue-based activities on the roles of the pharmacist and technician, and can adjust with the changing needs of the business. With built-in accuracy scans, real-time communication, and defined user permissions, EnterpriseRx fine-tunes performance without compromising quality. Furthermore, with anywhere/anytime access, a pharmacist working remotely can log into the system during peak hours to perform work virtually on behalf of the store, reducing the backlog for those on-site.

As a centrally hosted (ASP-based) model, EnterpriseRx centralizes databases (such as patient, prescriber, third-party, product, and so on), reporting, pricing, and drug updates, providing independents with the operational control, visibility, and support needed to help reduce costs and streamline administrative tasks.

Carlos Tami, President of Q Pharmacy in Texas, an MPS beta customer, states: We made a strategic decision at the start to find a solution that supported a personalized-care pharmacy model. We wanted scalability and access to the system from anywhere at anytime, as well as a low-cost IT infrastructure and great support we found it all with EnterpriseRx.
