The Scoring Process
McKesson relies on independent, industry experts to score the entries in a fair and consistent way. Criteria for scoring includes:

  • How well the application defines the business issue(s) to be solved and the project’s objectives
  • The quality of the process used to solve the business issue(s)
  • How the organization applied McKesson IT product(s) and/or services to solve the business issue(s) and achieve results
  • The quality of the clinical, financial and/or operational results
  • The quality of the methods used to measure the final results

Entries undergo two rounds of scoring. The first round of scoring will be an online review of the applications to identify finalists for the program. The second round of scoring varies by award type:

  • Online Scoring: Similar to round one, judges view and score the finalists’ entries online to select winners. The Hospital/Health System, Community Hospital and Physician Practice awards have online scoring for round two.

  • In-person competition: Finalists conduct a presentation of their entry to the panel of judges at a live, in-person event. The Homecare/Hospice Agency award will hold an in-person competition for finalists at the Horizon Homecare User Group 2010 Annual Conference.
