 Baptist Healthcare System

Baptist Healthcare System, Louisville, Ky. – Like many health systems, Baptist Healthcare found itself struggling with the complexity and escalating costs for supporting disparate “best-of-breed” technologies across the five-hospital enterprise. AnMed Health

AnMed Health, Anderson, S.C. – AnMed Health used McKesson information technology and automation systems to achieve fully integrated, closed-loop medication management. It is now among a small percentage of U.S. hospitals with end-to-end safeguards in place – from the time the medication is ordered by the physician, verified by a pharmacist, and ultimately administered to the patient. AnMed Health first eliminated paper records and automated pharmacy operations, followed by 100 percent bar coding of dispensed medications. To unite medication ordering and clinical best practices, the hospital also deployed McKesson’s computerized order entry/decision support solution to deliver evidence-based medicine to physicians. Most of the systems are integrated into Web portal technology, which gives clinicians automatic notifications of deficiencies, key order outlines, and anytime, anywhere access to essential patient information. University Health Network

University Health Network, Toronto, Ontario – In collaboration with the Shared Information Management Services group for an unincorporated partnership for nine Toronto-area healthcare organizations, clinicians at University Health Network (UHN) developed a patient portal to enable breast cancer patients to become more actively engaged in their own care. The innovative Web portal not only provides a unified view of data across the spectrum of care, it also improves access to information and patient satisfaction. The portal also is being expanded to other patients in need of disease management services, such as those with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. The patient portal uses McKesson’s HorizonWP® Patient Portal application and its existing modules as the underlying technology platform, along with custom modules that enhanced functionality for disease management.
