Methodist Medical Center of Illinois, Peoria, Ill.
Methodist Medical Center of Illinois, Peoria, Ill. – Over the last decade, Methodist Medical Center of Illinois has been driving a technological transformation in the way physicians and other clinicians work. With a wide array of clinical and automation technology solutions already in place, the hospital has achieved impressive improvements in efficiency and patient safety. The next step was to eliminate the last vestiges of time-intensive paper processes by implementing a document imaging solution and physician portal technology. Working in partnership with McKesson, the hospital successfully transitioned to electronic document management, enabling physicians to access and complete charts remotely with electronic signature and laying the groundwork for an electronic health record (EHR). It not only reduced resource utilization and increased staff productivity, but also achieved a remarkable 99 percent physician satisfaction rating. To learn more, read the case study.

Provincial Health Contact Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Provincial Health Contact Centre (PHCC), operated by Misericordia Health Centre, provides nurse symptom assessment, triage, health education and referral to a diverse population throughout the Canadian province of Manitoba. In 2005, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority enlisted the centre to help launch a program to better manage patients with chronic diseases, specifically congestive heart failure (CHF). In turn, the PHCC turned to health-care partner RelayHealth, McKesson’s connectivity business. Using RelayHealth’s CareEnhance Call Center™ triage and disease management modules and survey solution, the PHCC has improved CHF patient health, decreased emergency department visits, and reduced length of stay and readmissions to hospitals in the province.
