McKesson Renames Specialty Business Unit ''McKesson Specialty Care Solutions'' Following Completion of OTN Integration

Last year’s acquisition of OTN made McKesson the #1 distributor of rheumatology pharmaceuticals and the nation’s second largest specialty pharmaceutical distributor overall.

The OTN acquisition included Onmark, a leading group purchasing organization (GPO) with a special focus on community-based oncology. The purchase followed McKesson’s 2006 acquisition of the National Oncology Alliance (NOA), another oncology GPO, exemplifying the company’s desire for leadership in oncology capabilities and services. As part of the business integration, NOA and Onmark have consolidated to a single GPO under the Onmark name, representing over 2,700 member practices and more than 4,700 physicians.

The acquisition also complemented McKesson’s technology product portfolio with the addition of OTN’s proprietary Lynx® technology platform. The Lynx solutions integrate with TotalView®, a strategic reimbursement tool for manufacturers and providers.
