SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Aug. 5, 2008 — McKesson Specialty, a leader in the specialty healthcare market, announced that its Lynx MobileTM application has now been implemented in more than 500 community-based infusion therapy clinics, representing an increase of approximately 116 percent since July 2007.  An automated charge capture, inventory management and reporting tool, Lynx Mobile is designed to help community practices achieve more efficient management of drug inventory and supplies and improve practice revenue management.  Lynx Mobile is used by 2,000 physicians nationwide and facilitates 265,000 transactions for more than 32,000 patients each week.

“Specialty healthcare has changed considerably in the last few years, and as a result, it has become more important than ever for community-based clinics to maximize their inventory management and charge capture,” said Mike Kelly, chief information officer of McKesson Specialty.  “We worked closely with a network of physicians and administrators to build a user-friendly system designed to meet the unique business needs of community practices. Lynx Mobile helps physicians maximize practice management efficiencies and spend more time providing the best patient care.”

Lynx Mobile was developed by OTN, a McKesson Specialty company and launched in July 2006.  The user interface is designed to be interoperable with many of the electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management systems available in the marketplace today.  By facilitating the exchange of information between a clinic’s EMR or practice management system and Lynx Mobile, physicians have access to up-to-date patient information from any location, even from home.

“Our practice continues to be impressed with the versatility of the Lynx Mobile application and responsiveness of the Lynx Mobile team.  The ability to track everything we need to, including lab fees, office visits and supplies, has resulted in the virtual elimination of lost charges within our practice,” said Sara Green, Practice Administrator, Olympic Hematology & Oncology, PLLC.  “As the first Lynx Mobile customer, we are pleased to see the growth and acceptance of Lynx Mobile and excited to continue to leverage Lynx Mobile in improving our practice efficiency and financial health.”
