Onmark Regimen Profiler® Enhanced with New Customization and Reporting Capabilities
March 30, 2009

South San Francisco, Calif. - March 30, 2009 - Onmark, a leading national group purchasing organization (GPO) for community-based practices and a McKesson Specialty Care Solutions company, has completed several enhancements to its popular Regimen Profiler tool, empowering practices to more easily create customized analyses and patient-specific reports for different treatment options.

Onmark Regimen Profiler is a Web-based resource introduced in 2006 that helps community-based practices and their patients understand clinical and financial information about treatment regimens for a range of disease states requiring therapy with specialty drugs including cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. Over 400 referenced treatment regimens are included in Onmark Regimen Profiler's extensive clinical library.

The enhancements include:

  • Ability to complete a more detailed analysis of financial information for different treatment regimens. For example, Onmark Regimen Profiler now allows users to calculate non-drug costs at the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) level for E&M, administration and lab test procedures, rather than setting a flat treatment rate.
  • Ability to customize downloadable financial reports to more accurately reflect the way the practice actually administers therapy. Users can adjust reporting fields including the number of treatment cycles, cycle length, drug dosing, and patient body surface area (BSA).
  • Ability to customize regimens for a specific patient. Users can override a default patient weight used for “per kg” dosing by using a BSA calculator to set a specific patient weight, which will then be used to calculate the “per kg” dosing.
  • Easier identification of regimens that have been added or changed in the tool over the past two months, allowing users to quickly access the latest clinical updates and pull current reports.

Frank discussions between providers and patients about the cost of treatment before it is initiated is becoming increasingly important. The tool's Patient Profiler feature facilitates these conversations by reporting a patient's anticipated financial responsibility in easy-to-read reports that can now be customized to include the practice name, logo and phone number.

“The enhancements to Onmark Regimen Profiler expand the information that practices and patients can review before initiating therapy,” said Mike Cunningham, PharmD, vice president and general manager of Onmark. “With over 450 practices now using Regimen Profiler on a regular basis, we will continue investing in enhancements to this tool that meet the evolving needs of our membership.

The next phase of enhancements for Onmark Regimen Profiler will focus on providing detailed information on FDA and compendia approval status, which practices may reference when submitting requests for reimbursement.

“Onmark Regimen Profiler will soon contain FDA and compendia approval status of a regimen utilized for a specific diagnosis, which is particularly relevant given recently added compendiums and subsequent confusion in the market about drugs' approval status” said Kim Bergstrom, Pharm D, chief clinical officer, McKesson Specialty Care Solutions. “Onmark Regimen Profiler aims to provide actionable, time-saving information that empower practices to be knowledgeable and up to date about whether a regimen they recommend to a patient will be reimbursed by CMS and other payors.”

Onmark members can access Onmark Regimen Profiler free of charge via the Practice Management tab of www.onmarkservices.com. Recent webcasts detailing the new functionality are also available for replay under the Past Events section of the website.
