Participate in Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies without impacting pharmacist workflow

REMS Services from RelayHealth enable retail pharmacies to participate in various Federal REMS programs for prescription drugs without disrupting the workflow of pharmacists. Before dispensing a drug under a REMS program, our REMS Services verify in real-time that U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) requirements are met—such as certification of the prescriber and/or pharmacy.

REMS supports patient enrollment and verification, if needed. Additionally, if a prescription drug under a REMS program requires lab monitoring, the patient's lab status can be validated and pertinent lab results may be communicated to the pharmacy. Pharmacists may also be prompted to provide a medication guide and patient counseling to enable safer drug use during the prescription's life cycle.

REMS Services improves pharmacy compliance with the REMS program because it reduces the potential for errors that may occur with manual processing—such as remembering to go to an external program website for an authorization before dispensing a drug, manually recording an authorization number on the prescription hard copy and even the process of reversing a manual authorization if the patient does not ultimately pick up the drug.
