Kelvin A. Baggett, MD is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with extensive senior executive experience in publicly traded and privately held healthcare companies. Prior to joining McKesson, he was a leader at HCA Healthcare and Tenet Health. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer of a multistate post-acute care services company. In addition to his operating experience, Kelvin has provided direct clinical care, as a physician, and been a private equity investor and advisor.
Kelvin has led efforts to promote health equity, improve social drivers of health, enhance customer satisfaction and engagement, and advance value-based care. In his prior roles, he produced results that led to reductions in harm, improvements in outcomes, the generation of cost savings and creation of value. He was also deeply involved in efforts to appropriately leverage and scale technology. Prior to joining McKesson in 2020, he served in a voluntary capacity, as the City of Dallas’ COVID-19 Health and Healthcare Access Czar.
At McKesson, Kelvin is responsible for our strategy and execution related to sustainability & environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters, diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), social impact, social innovation, community relations and philanthropy. Early on in his tenure at McKesson, he led the process that resulted in the development of our company purpose, Advancing Health Outcomes for All. Under his leadership, we have also established a public position on climate change, submitted science-based targets, set diversity representation goals, and instituted a more strategic approach to our community engagement and philanthropy.
Kelvin earned his B.S. from UNC-Chapel Hill, M.D. from East Carolina University, M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University, and M.B.A. from Duke University. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at Yale University and advancing training at Johns Hopkins University and Duke University. Kelvin is an alumnus of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program, where he focused on health system transformation and reducing care variation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Kelvin is a published author, and the former recipient of research funding from governmental and non-profit organizations.
