The actions taken by patients to reduce their prescription-drug costs vary significantly by the type of insurance coverage they have, according to a survey of nearly 35,000 adults conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics in 2013. The findings strongly suggest that solutions aimed at improving medication adherence in the U.S. should take insurance source and benefit levels into account.
