The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a comprehensive reassessment for the McKesson Foundation, culminating in a revised set of philanthropic priorities: reducing the burden of cancer, preparing tomorrow’s healthcare workforce and accelerating crisis response. But for Margaret Buckley, director of the Foundation, it’s the focus on reducing the burden of cancer that hits closest to home. Her first-hand experience with cancer in her family has sharpened her perspective on patient and caregiver experiences.
“While cancer is now more treatable than ever, many individuals are not receiving essential cancer screenings,” Margaret observes. “By working through nonprofit partners to help ease these challenges, patients can concentrate more fully on their treatment and recovery, which can lead to better health outcomes.”
