When clinicians and leaders registered for McKesson Accelerate 2026, we asked them to describe the challenges their teams are currently facing. The responses came from practices of every size and corner of the U.S., and several themes emerged to shape the agenda for our conference this year.
Turning Operational Friction into Forward Momentum
Practice leaders described teams stretching across disconnected systems, entering the same information more than once, and losing time in the gaps between steps. That inefficiency is rarely in one place. It is distributed across intake, ordering, inventory, authorization and follow-up.
McKesson Accelerate sessions across the “Practice Management” and “Technology and AI” tracks address these topics by exploring where duplication happens, understanding where handoffs break down, and managing high-cost drug inventory and waste across multiple sites. Other sessions address operational resilience directly: how practices maintain care during a disruption and why so many well-intentioned technology investments never reach adoption.

Designing Better Handoffs Across the Care Journey
As treatment options expand, so do the number of people and decisions involved in a single patient’s care. Practice leaders told us the friction is concentrated at the handoffs between specialties, roles and systems.
The “Enhancing Patient Care” and “Novel Therapies” track sessions focus on how high-performing teams design collaboration through structured communication models, shared care pathways, clear ownership of testing and treatment decisions, and advanced practice provider models that expand capacity by letting every clinician work at the top of their license. Interactive sessions will walk attendees through mapping their own patient journey and identifying where delays actually occur.
Finding a Path Through Financial Pressure
Financial pressure is described less as a single squeeze and more like several shifts happening at once, compressing legacy revenue, intensifying payer requirements and changing economics for high-cost therapies.
McKesson Accelerate treats this as a strategy question, not just a cost problem. Sessions examine where margin is moving and how practices adjust their mix in response, while others focus on navigating payer pressure through contract negotiation, utilization management and appeals. Additionally, experts will discuss how practices are approaching biosimilar adoption and the clinical, operational and financial considerations associated with it.

Managing Growth and Expansion
Growth is a recurring theme focusing on what it takes to scale successfully. Adding a physician, launching a service line, or expanding to a new location can accelerate opportunities, but lasting success depends on having the workforce, infrastructure and operational foundation to support it.
Track sessions address growth from several angles, including recruiting and succession planning as strategic disciplines, not administrative tasks, and readiness frameworks for scaling advanced therapy programs like cellular therapy and radiopharmaceuticals. Other sessions share lessons from practices that launched new service lines, and how patient choice, experience and visibility now drive referral growth. Workforce sessions on nursing retention and leading teams through change round out the track offerings, because no expansion outpaces the team delivering it.
