New York healthcare facility will replace existing system after 18
years
F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, N.Y., is replacing its long-time hospital information system (HIS) with McKesson's top-rated Paragon ® HIS . Owned by regional leader Thompson Health, the 113-bed facility joins the rapidly growing number of providers choosing this innovative yet affordable integrated system to support their journey to meaningful use of electronic health records. The hospital also plans to implement laboratory, document imaging and enterprise intelligence technology applications from McKesson as part of its plans to enhance patient care and support growth.
Using McKesson Managed Services™, the new solutions will be remotely hosted in McKesson's data center, expanding the capacity of the hospital's hardware, implementation and support resources.
"With McKesson's Paragon system and remote hosting support, we can focus less on technology maintenance and more on delivering quality care to our patients," said Linda M. Farchione, president and CEO of Thompson Health. "We believe the team's implementation timeline and support will help us achieve meaningful use and advance our position as a hospital of choice in our region."
Hospital leaders sought a fully-supported, integrated solution that can help its caregivers efficiently document, manage and share patient information. Standardizing on a single clinical and financial solution should enable F. F. Thompson's clinicians to gain access to patient data that is collected electronically in real-time from every location in the hospital.
"We engaged industry consulting and research organizations to evaluate our current HIS and found that we needed to make significant upgrades," said Farchione. "Once the new system is up and running, we expect to integrate all patient information, including lab results, using one platform. The system is easy to use, and it offers the advanced clinical functionality necessary to take us into the future."
Paragon has been rated Best in KLAS for Community HIS in the Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Professional Services report for the past five years 1 . Paragon's fully-integrated clinical and financial platform will position the hospital to stay current with the ever-increasing pace of healthcare reform.
"Our Paragon solution will support F. F. Thompson's objective to quickly and cost-effectively drive improvements in performance," said Jim Pesce, president, Paragon, McKesson Provider Technologies. "We are excited to partner with the hospital in its pursuit of higher-quality care delivery and its leadership in driving healthcare innovation across the state of New York."
