Christopher Shain

Christopher Shain has more than 25 years of pharmacy experience in a variety of health care settings. He has been providing health system advisory services to McKesson customers since 2010. His early focus was 340B program management, which continues to be an important part of McKesson’s advisory services. He has also led pharmacy technology solutions development in conjunction with various McKesson business units. His role at McKesson also provides him with unique insight into the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Shain served as corporate director of clinical pharmacy services for Correctional Medical Services, a managed care organization with an in-house pharmacy benefit. He also obtained health systems leadership experience as assistant director of pharmacy—clinical director for St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. He began his professional career in academia as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine. After graduation from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy, Dr. Shain completed residencies in pharmacy practice at Bassett Healthcare (Columbia University) and infectious diseases at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is a licensed pharmacist in the state of Missouri. He has authored a number of health care manuscripts and book chapters, including the 340B Drug Program Handbook through ASHP publications.
