Christopher Shain has more than 20 years of pharmacy experience in a variety of health care settings. He has been providing consulting and other customer support services to 340B covered entities since 2010. His role at McKesson also provides him with unique insight into the pharmaceutical supply chain and drug pricing.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Shain served as corporate director of clinical pharmacy services for Correctional Medical Services, a managed care organization, where he gained significant experience with the federal 340B Program. He also obtained health systems leadership experience as assistant director of pharmacy—clinical director for St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. He began his professional career in academia as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine. After graduation from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy, Dr. Shain completed residencies in pharmacy practice at Bassett Healthcare (Columbia University) and infectious diseases at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is a licensed pharmacist in the state of Missouri. He has authored a number of health care manuscripts and book chapters, including the 340B Drug Program Handbook through ASHP publications.
