Direct and Indirect Remuneration (DIR) Fees have been one of retail pharmacies’ biggest concerns for years – but generally, have not been widely addressed in health systems for their impact. Today, more health systems operate integrated retail pharmacies as a means of improving revenue and patient retention. To help protect those pharmacies and the patients they serve, it’s important to bring awareness to the 2023 Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) final rule – which included language changing the definition of negotiated price for a drug.
