With over 20,000 pharmacy professionals and students from all over the world together in one place, attendees were able to access some of the most comprehensive pharmacy expertise, ideas, and innovation at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition 2022.

The experience at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas showcased hundreds of educational activities—with over 150 clinical and professional development sessions presented by expert faculty, exclusive in-person career advancement opportunities, and occasions to network with other industry professionals.

At ASHP 22, McKesson’s RxO team discussed how they can help health systems achieve more streamlined workflows, increase PAP savings, reduce delays in patient treatment, and most importantly improve patient outcomes.

O’Mally Monahan, vice president, Operations, McKesson RxO, was on-hand to provide live-demos and discuss how health systems can maximize recovery efforts to support patient care with McKesson’s Patient Assistance Program (PAP) or with the PAP Recovery Navigator solution for in-house management. This included McKesson’s new First Dose Technology, which integrates directly with hospital scheduling data to identify PAP-eligible patients prior to their arrival for treatments.

Also at the booth, attendees engaged with Nicole Mayo, Lead Analytics Consultant with McKesson Pharmacy Optimization RxInsight team, as she discussed how McKesson supports health system customers in making key decisions using the McKesson Corporation Utilization Analytics (UA) tool. Nicole demoed for a crowd how equipping health system pharmacies with data insights allows them to collaborate with revenue cycle, finance, and supply chain stakeholders and contribute to critical decisions which impact the entire health system.

Nicole highlighted how UA can help customers navigate the complexities of the emerging biosimilar market and payer reimbursement nuances to ensure their pharmacy business remains financially viable, as well as the importance of monitoring the constantly changing healthcare landscape.

Ram Arumugam leads McKesson’s Strategic Marketing’s value-added solutions for health systems customers nationwide. While at ASHP, Ram spoke with attendees about the untapped benefits of an outpatient retail pharmacy for health systems and how it can improve their financial performance.

He highlighted for health systems with a retail pharmacy, or for those looking to open one, that McKesson’s Payer Solutions for Health Systems is strategically positioned to support customers through access and expertise, optimizing outpatient retail pharmacy operations through financial success, clinical performance, improving continuity of care, recognizing better cash flow, and resource management.

Ram also discussed the recent launch of McKesson’s Atlas Specialty—a new specialty-focused pharmacy services administrative organization (PSAO). Atlas Specialty can help drive operational standardization and value for health system members through select network access, centralization of contracting, DIR management, and operational efficiencies.
