McElligott recognized for using IT to advance business objectives and improve company-wide collaboration
IRVING, TX – May 2, 2019 – McKesson Corporation today announced that Kathy McElligott, executive vice president, chief information officer (CIO) and chief technology officer (CTO) of McKesson, is a 2019 inductee into the CIO Hall of Fame from IDG’s CIO. The CIO Hall of Fame honors a select group of established, outstanding information technology (IT) executives and visionaries who have had a significant impact in the field of IT.
Kathy joined McKesson in 2015 and is responsible for all corporate technology initiatives and guides the overall direction for the company’s healthcare technology products and application development processes.

Prior to McKesson, Kathy served as the CIO of Emerson, a St. Louis-based global manufacturing and technology company. At Emerson, she managed information technology strategy and information security for the company’s global operations as well as its telecommunications and data center infrastructure. Previously, she spent 22 years with General Electric, holding multiple information systems leadership roles.
Kathy sits on the board of directors for ArcBest, a publicly traded $3.1 billion freight transportation and logistics company. She is also a member of the Arizona State University Industry Engagement Catalyst that provides strategic direction for ASU Fulton School of Engineering’s programs and partners to set the course for engineering and technology in the region and beyond.
In late April, Kathy announced her planned retirement after a successful career with McKesson, Emerson and General Electric. She will remain with McKesson until her successor has been named.
