SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., November 23, 2015 – McKesson Corporation was recognized for the third-straight year as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. The HRC is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. Once again, McKesson scored 100% on the HRC’s 2016 Corporate Equality Index (PDF, 4.9 MB), the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees.

“McKesson’s culture is defined by our shared principles which are anchored by respect and integrity. We are proud of being recognized by the HRC for the third year in a row as it demonstrates our commitment to providing a healthy and positive environment for all of our employees, including our LGBT colleagues,” said John Hammergren, chairman and chief executive officer, McKesson Corporation. “With a sincere commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are able to attract top talent and make our company more competitive and, ultimately, more successful on behalf of customers and shareholders.”

McKesson is constantly enhancing its approach on how to best support LGBT employees and their families. McKesson’s LGBT and Straight Ally Employee Resource Group ‘OPEN’ plays a key role, partnering with McKesson’s management team to ensure the company provides a workplace environment where all employees feel fully included, respected and treated equally.

“Recognition from HRC’s Corporate Equality Index is important for companies like McKesson to stay competitive in the global talent market. To be taken seriously as an LGBT-inclusive company, McKesson has continued to raise and maintain high standards with regards to the HRC CEI,” said Ross Brigman, RN, vice chair of OPEN National Employee Resource Group, McKesson Corporation. “The McKesson OPEN Employee Resource Group looks forward to working with the Human Right Campaign and the entire McKesson team to keep the score at 100 percent for years to come.”

“The HRC recognition is also testament to the integrity and respect shown by our more than 77,000 employees,” said Janice Little, vice president, Diversity & Inclusion, McKesson Corporation. “Each day, teams around the world foster an inclusive working environment and champion change when needed to ensure everyone at McKesson feels welcome and comfortable to bring their full selves to work every day.”

McKesson has also received recognition in past years as a military-friendly employer by Military Friendly, which surveys thousands of institutions and publishes lists that capture best practices in recruitment and retention of military employees, students and franchisees. Additionally, McKesson was honored by The National Business Group on Health with a “Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles®” award, recognition for employers that have helped improve their employees’ health, productivity and quality of life.
