Download Our Impact ReportThe Woodlands, Texas (May 21, 2015) ─ McKesson Specialty Health announced today that its Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) program has been appraised at Level 2 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)®. The appraisal was performed by the McKesson office of the CTO.
CMMI® is a capability improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. An appraisal at maturity Level 2 indicates the organization is performing at a “managed” level. At this level, it is ensured that processes are planned and executed in accordance with policy; that skilled people are employed who have adequate resources to produce controlled outputs; that relevant stakeholders are involved; that projects are monitored, controlled, and reviewed; and that projects are evaluated for adherence to their process descriptions.
“I can’t be more excited about this achievement,” said Doug Lawrence, VP of REMS, Reimbursement, Access and Safety Services (RA&SS), McKesson Specialty Health. “Being appraised CMMI Level 2 shows the importance we at McKesson Specialty Health place on the quality of work we produce.”
The Reimbursement, Access and Safety Services (RA&SS) business within McKesson Specialty Health maximizes patient access to therapy through leading technology, infrastructure, operations and staff. Its 900 seat contact center facilitates approximately 12 million patient and provider transactions for more than 300 products annually, providing a wide variety of services on behalf of pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers for therapies in oncology, rheumatology and other areas. As innovators in Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS), the RA&SS business has a proven model in the market place that works within pharmacy and prescriber management workflow systems to ease the administrative burden on providers. For six years, the RA&SS business has been designated a Center of Excellence by BenchmarkPortal - one of the most prestigious awards in the customer service and support industry.
Being rated at CMMI Level 2 means McKesson Specialty Health can deliver products and services to customers at lower costs as well as ensure on-time delivery, superior quality and higher customer satisfaction. For healthcare providers, being appraised at CMMI Level 2 means McKesson Specialty Health is able to implement and administer REMS programs at a more efficient and superior level to improve patient access to important medicines.
The scope of CMMI Level 2 appraisal consists of seven process areas: Configuration Management, Requirements Management, Project Planning, Project Monitoring & Control, Supplier Agreement Management, Measurement & Analysis, and Process & Product Quality Assurance.
