The McKesson Foundation

A 501(c)(3) organization, the McKesson Foundation (“The Foundation”) is more than 80 years old and is dedicated to advancing health outcomes for all.

Advancing Health Access

The mission of the Foundation is to remove barriers to quality healthcare across North America, with a special focus on vulnerable and under-resourced communities. Our expanding portfolio of nonprofit partners advances our work with efforts aligned with our three strategic giving pillars and corresponding areas of focus.

A cancer diagnosis often creates both a health and financial crisis for patients and their families. Through our partners, the Foundation aims to reduce the risk of getting cancer and address socioeconomic barriers to early diagnosis and appropriate care.

Areas of focus under this pillar include:

Prevention- Promote healthy lifestyles through education and services that encourage nutritious diets, regular exercise, tobacco avoidance and skin protection

Screening and Treatment- Increase awareness of the importance of screenings, early detection and timely treatment among vulnerable populations; provide free cancer screenings and referrals to care

Financial/Logistical Assistance- Help uninsured and underinsured patients with cancer care costs; address social determinants of health that pose barriers to care

Working with Parkland Health

The Foundation awarded a $500,000 grant to Parkland Health, expanding its long-term partnership with the Dallas-based public health system. The grant, which supports colorectal care for underserved communities, brought flexible sigmoidoscopy to Parkland Hospital. Flexible sigmoidoscopy is a less-invasive alternative to a colonoscopy and helps increase cancer screening rates, as well as provides important surveillance for rectal cancer patients during and post-treatment.

Supporting Our Employees

In addition to the many external causes we support, the Foundation also seeks to recognize both the needs and generosity of our employees. We know that employees, like anyone else, can face hardships and disaster, and that they deserve support in their times of need. We also magnify employees’ personal involvement in charitable causes.

Scholarship Program

Our scholarship program helps employees’ dependents who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. The scholarships are for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice, renewable for up to three years.

Taking Care of Our Own Fund

The Taking Care of Our Own Fund provides grants to McKesson employees facing unexpected financial hardships, such as family emergencies or natural disasters. The fund is supported by the Foundation and donations from our company and employees, and is administered by the Emergency Assistance Foundation.

Matching Gifts Program

Our employees support a wide range of causes as volunteers and donors, and the Foundation encourages these activities by doubling employees’ donations to eligible nonprofits, up to $2,500 per employee, per year. Employees can also earn grants for nonprofits of their choice from individual and team volunteering.
