Disaster Preparedness

Navigating Serious Disruptions

Natural disasters can strike anywhere, anytime, and disrupt supply chains. As one of the nation’s largest healthcare suppliers, we understand the challenges that disasters can present and have prioritized maintaining a seamless supply chain process.

With decades of experience, we plan ahead to help ensure the uninterrupted delivery of critical medications and products during disasters. By enhancing system efficiencies, improving processes and hiring talented team members, we can act with agility. We also maintain strong supplier relationships to make well-informed decisions. These are only a few examples of our strategies to support a stable pharmaceutical supply chain, allowing us to respond effectively to the impact of natural disasters.

McKesson Disaster Preparedness and Response

When disaster hits, reliable drug supply is vital.

Planning Ahead

Delivering more than one-third of medications in the U.S. means we know what it takes to deliver lifesaving medicines and supplies. To prepare for natural disasters, our teams work overtime to ensure needed supplies are delivered, inventories are increased and facilities are prepared with generators, satellite phones and the necessities to quickly get in touch with customers.

Standing By

Additionally, our support teams are on standby to travel and assist in relief efforts, and we coordinate specialty couriers to plan for potential emergency shipments. While hospitals and pharmacies enact their emergency response plans, we work closely with our customers to ensure they are prepared and have what they need. Current customers can get in touch with customer support here.

Responding to Pandemics

With our experience operating as the centralized distributor for the COVID-19 vaccines and medical supplies for the U.S. government through September 2023, we have the know-how to prepare for unforeseen crises that might come our way.
